After working in public affairs for 14 years in progressive roles, Crystal’s strengths in media relations and government relations kept getting noticed. She wanted to work with budding executives to guide and advise them as their company grew to help lay the foundation to become a large player in their respective industries.
Crystal founded Scout Public Affairs to offer clients strategic counsel to improve their external relations and ultimately their reputation.
During her five years at BlackBerry Crystal had several career highlights. She led media relations for the Canadian launch of BlackBerry10. The highly anticipated launch was awarded Best Traditional Campaign by PR Daily.
Crystal has provided strategic counsel to senior executives and politicians throughout her career. Working as a trusted advisor to a senior cabinet minister at Queen’s Park, she quickly became adept at rapid issues management and navigating the delicate world of politics and public opinion.
C-Level executives and politicians have relied on Crystal’s media coaching to deliver concise, effective communications to their staff, consumers, voters, partners and the media. Her expertise in reputation management includes proactive positioning and reactive crisis management, both critical elements of building and protecting a reputation.
Crystal is a graduate of Queen’s University where she studied political science, and Durham College where she discovered her love of public relations.

Faye founded Scout Public Affairs after spending more than 17 years working in Corporate and Public Affairs at General Motors Canada – Faye brings knowledge of Corporate Affairs that few growing businesses ever get to access. Most recently, Faye served as Director of Communications, and was responsible for internal, corporate, product and technology communications as well as the company’s social media activity.
Her career at General Motors included a pivotal role as Director of Government Relations, a key member of the leadership team that secured the integrated package of assistance from the Ontario and Canadian Governments in 2009 allowing the company to restructure. Early in her career, Faye also worked in the public affairs branch at both the federal Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and the Department of National Defence. Faye has extensive government relations experience that spans tax and trade issues, environmental and global climate change, natural resource and regulatory issues.
Faye offers media commentary on a range of issues including Canada’s automotive industry, appearing on CBC’s The Exchange and TVO’s The Agenda. She is also a regular participant on the morning panel on Newstalk1010.
Faye holds a Master of Science from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland where she studied European and International Politics after receiving a Rotary Foundation Scholarship. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts, Honours from Queen’s University.
